Looking into the Abyss, like all of Duffys designs, the Abyss Table is a conversation piece as much as a functional one.
But while previous works play with gravity, this new design is concerned with depth, and creates a geological cross-section as mesmerising as the sea.
The design team spent a year developing the table in their London studio, experimenting with sculpted glass, plexiglas and wood, arranged like a 3-D representation of a geological map, until they re-created something of the mesmeric abyss that had first captured Duffys imagination.
With only 25 being made, each table is crafted with high grade wood from Forest Stewardship Council managed forests and other controlled sources, glass and a light source.

And when you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you." - FRIEDRICH NIETZSCHE

Duffy Londons designs are ideas-based, combining art and function and playing with the concepts of gravity, geometry and illusion. The innovative and quirky designs spring from the mind of Christopher Duffy, however, he also draws from his talented team of designers, artisans and manufacturers to turn these concepts into quality pieces.Show More Show Less
